Edward L. Collins, Jr. (1933-2007)

Edward L. Collins, Jr. owned and operated the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. from 1975 until 2007. Edward, along with his devoted wife, Helen of 52 years were dedicated to serving the Oxford community. The funeral home was not only a family business but their home where they raised their family and four children.


Edward was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving in the Korean War. Edward was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus at the Sacred Heart Church, Oxford and was also a member and past president of the Oxford Lions Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Oxford Senior Center and Chester County Automobile Association.


He graduated from Eckels Mortuary School, Philadelphia in 1952. He worked with Lewis B. Cauffman at the funeral home from 1958 until the time of the purchase in 1975. His son, Kevin D. Collins later joined him in 1985.

Kevin D. Collins has been serving the Oxford community for over 30 years. Kevin graduated from the Oxford Area High School Class of 1980. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at Millersville University and earned his degree in Mortuary Science at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Kevin joined his father, Edward L. Collins, Jr. as a second generation funeral director at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. in 1985.  Kevin purchased the funeral home from his father and has continued the family business through his dedication and professionalism.

Julie N. Collins was born and raised in Oxford. She joined the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. as a third generation funeral director in 2015. Julie earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Christopher Newport University and earned her degree in Mortuary Science at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.
